E-Cigarette FAQ's

  • 1. Are Electric Cigarettes harmful?

Socialites Zero E-cigarettes do not contain any of the harmful ingredients associated with cigarettes, such as smoke, carbon monoxide, tar, tobacco plus 3,500 other chemicals. In addition, E-cigs are zero passive smoke.
Our products contain only 4 product ingredients that are strictly pharmaceutical grade, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine and food flavouring. Purified water is the base to all four ingredients.

  • 2. How much are they?

We have specific E-cig starter kits from as little as £10 that will put you on the right track to make your transition from tobacco smoking to vaping within a few moments. We also supply more sophisticated products which you will naturally move on to with a starting price of £20.

  • 3. What nicotine strength should I choose?

Generally, you can choose between high, medium, low, and zero nicotine strengths with both our cartomisers and E-juice bottles. The higher the strength, the more nicotine is contained and the more nicotine, the stronger the catch in your throat will be, imitating a real tobacco smoking experience. There is no rule, it’s whatever strength you are comfortable with. It’s wise to sample different strengths to find your acquired taste.

  • 4. Which one is best for me?  What's the difference between the two types of E-cig?

We understand the stresses associated with the highs and lows of quitting smoking. Effected by the mental and physical addiction temptation is always lingering. We know first-hand how sensitive quitting can be for a smoker made more distressing with the fear of failure. Quitting smoking can become overwhelming at times and reaching for a cigarette is always a moment away. The three most important things when switching to E-cigs are; one, you are comfortable with the device you start with, two, the E-juice flavour is to your liking and three, the nicotine strength is just right for you. It’s a personal journey and important to achieve all three points to suit you, after all we are all different. Although the variations are plenty, it’s very easy to establish the exact combination to suit the individual with a few questions on smoking habits, our famous and reliable taste test and a little product and device education. All our products are available to ‘try before you buy'. We will talk you through the options where you will make your own choice depending on your preference and budget.

  • 5. I want to quit smoking, how do I do it?

Our customers quit cigarettes using Socialites in different ways. Some go cold turkey and use our product exclusively, some use Socialites to slowly wean themselves off cigarettes. It's a personal journey and we will help you find what works best for you. The most important findings within our own research is that very little willpower is required to switch from Smoking tobacco to vaping E-cigarettes, mainly because E-cigarettes satisfy all a smokers needs.

  • 6. How successful are E-cigarettes?

Customer success rate is extremely high, we have many customers who have been using our products for several weeks, months and years. Some customers have quit smoking straight away and weeks later quit vaping too. The spectrum is varied. Repeat business and referrals are due to the success of our products and the ‘taste before you buy’ approach. Our findings show, that customers who take the time to sample the device and taste test the varied flavours and strength are 85% more likely to enjoy the transition from smoking to vaping and are far more likely to achieve their goal.

  • 7. How long do they last?

E-cigarette devices are generally powered by rechargeable Li-ion batteries. They do have a minimum life span depending on the size or mAh power output. High quality batteries have a charge recycle of approx 300 times. Inferior non-branded batteries have a charge recycle of around 100 times. Disposable E-cigs are not rechargeable and designed for a one time only use. Disposables will indicate approximately the quantity of puffs you will achieve (between 100 or 500 puffs) before the battery dies or the flavour disappears. Other consumable products are called Atomizers, Cartomizers or Clearomizers. These are the parts of the E-cig that incorporates the atomizer that creates the heat to make the vapour and also contains the E-juice. Clearomizers or Tanks as they are also known as come in both disposable and reusable. Depending on the quality of E-juice you use, the disposable clearomizer should last the average smoker ten juice fills. However, when using Socialites UK made E-juice, the clearomizer will last 4-5 times as long, this is down to ZERO impurities that would usually clog the Atomizer.

  • 8. Can I use them when pregnant/asthmatic or COPD?

We would always recommend that if you have any kind of medical condition you speak to your GP before using any inhalation products.

  • 9. How long do you charge them for

Rechargeable devices vary on output and input. It is a science and therefore the rule is accurate enough to work out the exact charge times for each size battery. Without baffling you with science, below is put in fairly simple terms. Your Socialites advisor will always tell you how long to charge each battery for plus it will always be written in the instruction manuals accompanied with each product.
Most Socialites batteries produce 4.2V output. It takes one hour to charge each 420 mAh. Therefore, if the battery was 840 mAh, it would take two hours to charge. A 650 mAh battery will take just over 1.5 hours (one and a half hours). So, to figure out how long to charge the battery for, you must know how many mAh the battery is and divide it by 420. (mAh means milli-amp)

  • 10. Will I put weight on when I switch to vaping from smoking?

The answer is simply NO. You shouldn’t want to eat any more than your usual intake. The generalisation of putting on weight when you give up smoking is that you are indulging yourself to counter your craving for the cigarette. We’ve all heard or have spoken the same comments such as, ‘I need something to do with my hands, I’m hungry all the time now I don’t smoke etc. The reason why is straight forward. When you cold turkey from nicotine, the nicotine craving is very similar to the hunger crave or pang. Nicotine can take 2-3 weeks to leave your system therefore you will assume you need to eat. However, since most of you will be choosing an E-juice that contains nicotine, you will not feel like a cold turkey and will not eat more than usual.

  • 11. Can I charge my battery over night/will it blow up? Are they safe?

All our products are perfectly safe and have been tested in the UK. We recommend that only Socialites compatible components and accessories are used in conjunction with each other as they have been designed to so with safety being a priority. All Socialites batteries have a safety charge cut off. However, you should always be cautious when charging any electronic device and avoid leaving them unattended. Using a third party AC USB adaptor is not suitable with a Socialites product. Please follow the instructions that accompany your device.

  • 12. Does nicotine cause cancer?

Nicotine is a stimulant and relaxant and has never been linked to cancer. It is highly addictive, similar to caffeine. It is all the other chemicals in cigarettes that have been linked to cancer.

  • 13. How long will it be before I can come down a strength?

There are no hard and fast rules, we always say to come down when you're ready. For some that could be after a few weeks, but others it may take several months. It's not a competition, and the main thing is to reduce the nicotine strength when it's right for you. Be patient and let your body tell you when it’s time to lower your nicotine strength.
